How to use Markdown Preview
Type or paste Markdown and the preview refreshes automatically. Use the example to explore tables, strikethrough, task lists and fenced code. Copy safe HTML for another editor, or download the Markdown source.
How it works and its limits
The editor uses Marked 18.1.1 for GitHub-flavored Markdown and DOMPurify 3.4.16 with a restricted HTML allowlist. Scripts, forms, inline styles, event handlers, SVG, embedded media and images are removed from the preview and HTML export. Image descriptions are shown as plain text, so opening an untrusted document cannot trigger remote image requests. Links allow HTTP, HTTPS, mailto, fragments and relative paths; opening a link is your choice. Input is limited to 200,000 characters. The preview is an approximation of GitHub rendering, without syntax highlighting or GitHub-specific extensions.
Frequently asked questions
Why are images not displayed?
Markdown image links can contact another server and reveal that a document was opened. This tool replaces them with text containing the image description. The original Markdown download keeps your source unchanged.
Is raw HTML supported?
Basic safe formatting such as paragraphs, headings and tables is allowed. Active HTML and risky attributes are stripped before rendering or exporting.
Does this save my writing?
No. Input is held only in this tab. Download your source before closing or refreshing the page.
Worked example: turn a release note into a readable preview
Paste this small document. The preview should show a heading, a two-item checklist and a table. A checked item is displayed as a disabled checkbox, so the preview does not act as a saved task manager.

The HTML export contains the sanitized preview, not the original raw HTML. The Markdown download retains source text, including content that the preview deliberately omits.
Why an image becomes a label
Try . The preview displays [Image omitted: Team diagram] rather than contacting that image server. Raw HTML image elements are removed too. If you want pictures in a published document, review the destination and add trusted image sources there; this preview intentionally favors reading untrusted text without embedded image requests.
Common differences from another Markdown editor
- A normal line break may stay in the same paragraph. Use a blank line for a new paragraph or Markdown hard-break syntax where needed.
- Code fences display code as text. They do not run JavaScript and do not add syntax highlighting.
- Relative links resolve against the location where you open the result. Review them after moving an exported HTML file.
- Custom styles, embedded media, scripts and editor-specific extensions will not reproduce another application's full presentation.
