Works with portraits of people. This is not a general object remover. Fine hair, low contrast and complex backgrounds can produce imperfect edges.

How to use this portrait tool
- Choose a clear portrait of a person.
- Pick a solid background color or choose a second image from your device.
- Select Process portrait, inspect the mask and download your PNG or JPEG.
The local portrait model separates the person from the background. A replacement photo is cropped to cover the same canvas, keeping the portrait’s aspect ratio. Adjust the mask controls if the edge is too hard or includes background detail.
Your photo stays on your device
Images are read into your browser’s memory and processed locally. Nothing is sent to an image service, saved to an account or placed in the page URL. Clear the photo or close the tab when finished. Downloads are created only when you select a download button.
The self-hosted MediaPipe SelfieSegmenter model is designed to separate people from backgrounds. The runtime and model are downloaded from this website only when you start processing; the photo itself is never uploaded. See the model and runtime notice for version, license and source details. A current browser with WebAssembly support is required.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use my own background photo?
Yes. Switch Background type to Local image and choose a PNG, JPEG or WebP file. It is placed behind the detected person and cropped to fill the frame.
Does JPEG support transparency?
No. JPEG exports are flattened over white wherever transparency remains. PNG is available when you need an alpha channel.
Will the person be retouched?
The tool changes the background and estimates the person’s outline. It does not beautify facial features or change identity. Always inspect the result for masking mistakes.
Are my photos sent anywhere?
No. The image data is processed only in this browser tab. Files are not uploaded or stored by the website. This page has no advertising or analytics scripts.
Which image files can I use?
PNG, JPEG and WebP files up to 20 MB, 32 megapixels and 12,000 pixels per side are supported. Large photos are reduced to a working copy with a maximum edge of 2,000 pixels to control memory use.
