How to use this photo cropper

  1. Use a recent, unaltered photo that meets your issuing authority’s requirements.
  2. Choose a size and adjust zoom and position. Drag the preview or use the sliders and arrow keys.
  3. Download the image or print sheet. Print at 100% actual size and verify the physical dimensions.

This is a manual cropping and sizing tool. It does not verify head size, lighting, expression, pose, official requirements or acceptance. The preset names describe dimensions only. It does not use AI, replace the background, retouch the face or change your identity.

Your photo stays on your device

Images are read into your browser’s memory and processed locally. Nothing is sent to an image service, saved to an account or placed in the page URL. Clear the photo or close the tab when finished. Downloads are created only when you select a download button.

Use the official U.S. passport photo guidance for U.S. applications, or your issuing authority’s official instructions elsewhere. A 35 × 45 mm preset is a size option, not a claim that it meets every country’s rules. Print sheets should be printed at 100% actual size, without “fit to page.”

Frequently asked questions

Does this guarantee passport photo acceptance?

No. Size alone is not enough. Requirements differ by authority and application method. Confirm the current official rules and have the final photo checked before submitting.

Are the alignment guides official measurements?

No. The oval and center line are positioning aids only, not a head-size or biometric compliance check. Guides appear only in the preview and are not exported.

What does 300 DPI mean here?

The tool calculates the pixel dimensions from the selected physical size at 300 pixels per inch and writes 300 DPI metadata into PNG or JPEG downloads. A printer can still rescale the image: choose actual size or 100%, then measure the print.

Do I need to change the background?

Start with a compliant original photo. This tool intentionally does not alter backgrounds or faces. Some issuing authorities prohibit digital changes; check their official instructions.

Are my photos sent anywhere?

No. The image data is processed only in this browser tab. Files are not uploaded or stored by the website. This page has no advertising or analytics scripts.

Which image files can I use?

PNG, JPEG and WebP files up to 20 MB, 32 megapixels and 12,000 pixels per side are supported. Large photos are reduced to a working copy with a maximum edge of 2,000 pixels to control memory use.
