Works with portraits of people. This is not a general object remover. Fine hair, low contrast and complex backgrounds can produce imperfect edges.

How to use this portrait tool
- Choose a portrait with a clearly visible person.
- Select Process portrait to detect the foreground person.
- Adjust the background blur strength and mask edges, compare the original and save.
The model creates a soft person mask. The tool draws a blurred version of the background, then places the unblurred person over it. This is a visual portrait effect: it does not securely redact information in the background.
Your photo stays on your device
Images are read into your browser’s memory and processed locally. Nothing is sent to an image service, saved to an account or placed in the page URL. Clear the photo or close the tab when finished. Downloads are created only when you select a download button.
The self-hosted MediaPipe SelfieSegmenter model is designed to separate people from backgrounds. The runtime and model are downloaded from this website only when you start processing; the photo itself is never uploaded. See the model and runtime notice for version, license and source details. A current browser with WebAssembly support is required.
Frequently asked questions
Does this blur faces or hide private information?
No. It is a portrait background effect. It does not blur the foreground person and must not be used for secure redaction; background information may still be recognizable.
Can I change how strong the blur is?
Yes. Adjust the strength from 2 to 40 pixels after processing. The preview and saved file use the same setting.
Why is some hair blurry or missing?
Automatic person masks are estimates. Fine hair, low contrast or unusual lighting can confuse the model. Adjust threshold and edge softness or try a sharper portrait.
Are my photos sent anywhere?
No. The image data is processed only in this browser tab. Files are not uploaded or stored by the website. This page has no advertising or analytics scripts.
Which image files can I use?
PNG, JPEG and WebP files up to 20 MB, 32 megapixels and 12,000 pixels per side are supported. Large photos are reduced to a working copy with a maximum edge of 2,000 pixels to control memory use.
